This website ("the Site") is owned by the Renaissance Foundation (“RFHK”) and hosted in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. RFHK is committed to protecting the privacy of its website visitors in accordance with applicable laws and regulations of Hong Kong. This Statement describes how RFHK collects and uses information from the Site’s visitors, including RFHK members. This Statement applies when RFHK collects personal data from you through any channel. It explains RFHK’s information processing practices, and applies to any personal information you provide to RFHK, and any personal information RFHK collects from other sources. This Statement applies to all RFHK websites which are accessible via multiple RFHK domains. This Statement does not apply to your use of any third party website in connection with RFHK websites. WHEN AND HOW DOES RFHK COLLECT YOUR INFORMATION?

RFHK collects two kinds of information from the Site’s visitors: anonymous information and personally identifiable information.

Anonymous Information

Our servers automatically log certain information that does not personally identify you. RFHK uses this anonymous information in aggregate form to manage and improve the Site. Such anonymous information includes, for example, the pages you visit on the Site, the amount of time you spend viewing those pages, the links and advertisements you click, the browser you use, and the address of the web page that referred you to the Site.

Personally Identifiable Information

RFHK also collects personally identifiable information that you voluntarily provide through the Site, such as your name, postal or email address, and phone number. RFHK collects personally identifiable information in the following ways:

  • Membership Purchases: to fulfil orders and manage memberships
  • Donations: to process your donations with our payment processors
  • Store Purchases: to fulfil orders for merchandise in our stores
  • Event Tickets and Registrations: to process purchases and registrations for events, conferences and other activities
  • Surveys and Contests: to facilitate participation
  • Programme Promotion: to provide you with information about upcoming programmes and activities

Where necessary, RFHK reserves the right to share your information with a third-party service provider in order to ensure proper delivery of services. Whenever possible, such sharing of information will be strictly subject to an agreement with each service provider, requiring such service provider to comply with all relevant data protection regulations.

Social Media

In the event that you engage with RFHK via social media websites or through applications on RFHK’s websites that integrate with social media websites, you may grant us access to certain information from your social media account. If you post information on the Site such as in a blog, it may become public depending on your own privacy settings in your social media accounts. You can control what information you wish to share through adjusting your own privacy settings. Communications Sent to You

RFHK distributes newsletters and other communications by email and/or regular post. RFHK sends these communications to you only if you have signed up to receive them, or if you have agreed to receive them as part of your RFHK membership. RFHK may also use your personal data to contact you individually if you initiate correspondence with us. If you no longer wish to receive one or more types of these communications, RFHK will honour your request. To unsubscribe, simply follow the instructions RFHK includes in the mailings, such as the “link to unsubscribe” you will find in the RFHK email messages. In the event that RFHK wishes to use your personal information for any purpose other than the purpose for which it was collected, RFHK must seek your consent first. In any event, RFHK shall ensure that your personal information is not subject to unnecessary risk of disclosure.

Collecting Information from Children

RFHK does not intentionally seek to collect any information from children on the Site. Users under the age of 18 should not submit any personal information through the Site. If this may have happened, please contact us at earup@rfhk.org.hk.

Disclosure of Personal Information

Within RFHK 

RFHK may share your information with other divisions and branch offices within RFHK to better serve you for the kinds of activities cited above. RFHK does not rent, sell or otherwise disclose personal information about the Site’s visitors to unaffiliated third parties for marketing purposes. RFHK might only share your information with third parties as specified below.

Authorized Service Providers 

  1. Analytics

RFHK continuously seeks ways to improve the Site for our users. In order to do this RFHK makes use of third-party analytics tools to better understand who are using the Site and how. These tools may involve cookies and other technologies to collect information about your use of the website and your preferences and activities. These tools collect information sent by your device or the website and other information that assists us in improving the website. Such information may be used to analyse and track data, determine the popularity of certain content, and better understand your online activity.

  1. Third Party Service Providers

Your personal information might be disclosed to service providers engaged by RFHK. Our service providers help us with, for example, web hosting, order fulfilment, subscription management, software development, database maintenance, and website consulting. RFHK, along with third-parties, use cookies, local storage objects, web beacons and other technologies for the tracking, analytics, personalization and optimization of the Site.

Our servers are located in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. If you are outside Hong Kong, your personal data will be transferred to and stored on a server located in Hong Kong. By submitting your personal data to RFHK, you consent to this transfer and to the collection, storage, processing and use of your data in Hong Kong.

Security Measures to Protect Your Personal Information

Giving priority to the protection of your personal information, RFHK has implemented strict security precautions. When the Site uses online forms to collect sensitive personal data like credit card numbers, RFHK secures the form with Secure Socket Layers ("SSL") encryption, one of the most widely accepted and tested forms of data encryption. With less sensitive personal data, RFHK uses password protection. RFHK also takes the following precautions with your personal data and other information:

  • Secure hosting environment for our web servers
